old and new dalton gallery

Agnes Scott officially opened the Dalton Gallery in the Charles A. Dana Fine Arts Building on October 24, 1965.  Named in honor of Harry L. Dalton and his wife, Mary Keesler Dalton, ’25, the gallery forms the central public area on the main floor of the building.  The opening event featured an exhibition of fifty five paintings which Mr. and Mrs. Dalton had given to Agnes Scott to augment the college’s permanent art collection.  Today, the Dalton Gallery works closely with the Department of Art & Art History, recognizing the inherent expressive value of art, its enrichment of the human experience, and the dependence of global culture on visual literacy.

The Dalton Gallery is located in the Dana Fine Arts Building on the campus of Agnes Scott College, near the corner of East Dougherty and South McDonough streets. The college’s address is 141 East College Avenue, Decatur, GA 30030.

Monday-Friday: 10:00 AM – 4:30 PM

Saturday: 12:00 PM – 4:00 PM

Sunday: CLOSED

Please note the gallery will be closed for the Thanksgiving holiday from Wednesday, November 22 at 12 PM through Friday, November 24. It will reopen Saturday, November 25 at 12 PM.
